Any theorys on turning the sun down to stop so called global

#1 Postby Matt-hurricanewatcher » Thu Apr 17, 2008 8:29 pm

Is there any theorys on ways to weaken the sun, that could off set "global warming", if global warming is true? I mean why not go to the energy source to stop it.

That would make the most sense to do that. Even so I don't really believe in global warming, but just in case if we are serious about it, then why not?

WHAT!!!!! "Turning the Sun down" Sorry for the ignorance but do you mean, reducing the Sun's power or increasing Earth's albedo?

Reducing the suns output more or less. I'm talking about theory's and not can we do it at the moment.

the first thing you can do is stop listening to all the unfounded liberal propoganda. second, let the sun be.

A giant mylar reflective sheet, as large as can be launched with the world's largest launch vehicle. Geosynchronous orbit, parked directly above the primary tropical cyclone genesis area of the Atlantic.

Or a bunch of them.

I mean, if global warming turns out to be more than just a natural cycle.

There is enough evidence, and it has been discussed in this forum several times, that the current cannot be explained by a natural cycle and that we're contributing to it. Some people decide to ignore and some people decide to think that we're killing the planet. I'm in the middle of the discussion. I think it's a combination of a natural cycle, the fact that we're in an interglacial, and our effect on the planet since the Industrial Revolution. Most of us won't see the possible drastic effects since our lives are too short. Our kids and grandkids will have to live with the consequences of our actions and the actions of those before us.

I think its too bad to ignore our contribution to the warming, but its also unreasonable to go overboard with the possible effects in the future that we're not sure.

It's impossible currently to do that, what were you thinking?

Did you even go to your 1st grade science class? Do you even know anything about science? At all?

The sun is a 860,000 mi wide nuclear reactor. Its going to do what it wants.

Have you ever tooken a 200 level science class? I have. So shut up.

Also I was not serious with this post. But hell I just wanted to see what people thought about the idea; that is how science advances.

I'm going to assume you flunked or dropped out, then, because no one I know who has taken a high-level science class would ask for suggestions on how to "turn down the sun".

I propose founding "Project Sunfury". We install billions of high powered air conditioners on the suns surface, and if that doesn't work we just nuke the darn thing.

Or we can send a few giant towtrucks into space and move the Earth a few million miles further away.

Or we can not waste time on such ludicrous ideas.

We could always use heartburn tablets, that might work

I'm sure we could find cheap labour. They could work like ants and build a gigantic ladder.

Have you ever tooken English?

Seriously though, I hope I'm long gone the day we decide to nuke the sun. Don't blame the sun for what we've done to this planet.

Better than Mylar reflectors in orbit. Everyone that can lines their back yards in alunimum foil, shiny sides up.
