I don't know if you ever will get most of them to post. Look at some of the other boards. TWC for example had thousands of members but you still saw the core people posting. Most of the people who frequent weather boards do so as an information resource and just never post.

It happens at all message forums...and I'm guilty of it myself..as I imagine most folks are.

I'm registered at WxChat, and made only 2 posts in over a year. When I stopped lurking at TWC, I'd only made 9 posts in 2 1/2 years.

Under a previous name at WWBB I made 700+ posts, but since registering as JetMaxx last year (after the board crashed and my name wiped out), I've only posted 40-something messages there.

Why? Because I'm too busy posting here (7977 posts), and at TalkWeather Alabama (900+ posts)....not too mention scattered posts at other storm boards (GoPBI, HurricaneCity, etc); and non-weather boards (sports, military, etc).

I don't think I am guilty of that on any of the forums that I visit, but I am close on at least one...

I don't think it is a bad thing. Some people just choose to lurk and get the info. they need without posting.

I am guilty of that as well ... not here, TWC, and Wright-Weather ... but at WxChat (only something like 23 posts), the now defunct Weatherforums - 33 posts, GoPBI - a few posts, and CFHC - 0 posts.

It is easy to get attached to one particular message board. The more activity on the forum the more people tend to be interested in posting there and members post counts go up.

I am a member of about five weather message boards and mainly post at this one and pay close attention to WxChat. (I wish I had more to add there, but as I said above if there isn't anything to discuss; it is difficult to make posts).

I am trying my best to read and post some at the other three, but Storm2K has all I appreciate in a message board about my interest, no offense to the others I am very glad to be a part of.

I agree Tom. I still browse WxChat, but I mainly post on here and at Colin's message board "The Storm Room".
