My sister is doing much better. She lost a kidney but she is getting stronger every day. Her husband and the their two boys were bruised up but otherwise are doing ok other than having to eat Mike's cooking :-) The accident was caused by a drunk driver who ran a stop light and T-boned them. Luckily they were all wearing their sealbelts or it could have been much worse. The police estimate that the guy was doing between 80 and 85MPH when he hit them. One other thing that helped was that they were driving a Surburban, It's totaled but it absorbed a lot of the impact ... :-)

Well, thank God for the Suburban and the fact that they were wearing seatbelts. As for the drunk driver, I hope he doesn't see the outside of a jail cell for a loooooooong time!! :grr:

I'll keep your sister in my prayers. :)

Absolutely ... a drunk driver killed one of my best friends when I was 19 ... and even worse, his father found him first, barely alive ... The drunk driver that hit him had left the scene but was caught shortly thereafter (within an hour), but possibly had the drunk driver stayed at the scene, he would have been shot dead. Chris's father at the time was a Charleston County Police Officer and he was going home from his shift duty that night.

This was extremely hard to take for his family, and my family since we grew up together. I was already mourning the loss of another very close friend that accidently overdosed on sleeping pills on Thursday and JUST returned from Tara's funeral. After the talk with my stepmother, we got a phone call from Chris's father informing us of what had happened.

Marshall, the newsletter can wait ... family comes first, and foremost, and I'm very sorry about this news. May God be with you through this and best wishes for a speedy and full recovery to your sister and family.

As for the drunk driver, well, I can't state my thoughts ... this is a family board and my words would be less than civil.

It's past time drunk drivers were held responsible for their actions. Manslaughter charges don't cut it anymore.

And why is it that the drunk drivers are never the ones who are maimed and killed??? So many of them are able to flee the scene. :bad-words:

Mike - So sorry about your loss.
Marshall - I pray that your sister will make a quick and complete recovery.

My brother was a drunk driver and was responsible for the death of his friend Jason and almost was killed as well. This was 15 years ago and he has never been the same since. He is always depressed because of the guilt. He has told me many times he wished he would have died in the accident. I'm afraid one day he will kill himself.

I didn't see what happened to your sister MF until now! I'm glad to hear that they are all recovering but having your sister lose a kidney due to it is quite frightening!

As everyone said, family first!

Thanks Stephanie. She's recovering nicely thank God! :-)

As to the newsletter, my apologies to the entire board for this past month. Work has just been killing me and I just haven't time to get it done. To all of you who took the time to write articles, THANKS and I'll promise we'll use them. My apologies also specifically to Ticka. She did her job and got everything together but her production department let her down (me) :-(

Thanks Josh and Linda! Sarah and her family are doing much better. The Surburban was like a low-flying plae of the way to Greenville :-) On top of that, last week my compnay had a layoff which cost 9 people their jobs. that's about 15% of or workforce. Needless to say the rest of us have been scrambling... On with life. :-)
