What is it with all the negativism? The article does state that almost all these crimes stem from "turf" wars between elements that came back to the dry areas of the city and are running into those elements who consider it their own personal turf. The same kind of thing happens in just about every major city in America. I, for one will be the first to admit that we really do need to come down hard on criminal activities now. This is the time to strike, and let these kinds know that this sort of conduct will no longer be tolerated, and when it rears its ugly head it will be dealt with swiftly and surely. But as far as safety is concerned, suffice it to say that unless you're in some kind of gang, or drug dealer or customer, and all you're doing is looking for a good time--New Orleans is THE place to have it, and while no place can guarantee that crime won't occur, it's at LEAST as safe as anywhere else as major cities go. I for one have no compunctions whatever about having a grand time--done it many times before, hope to do it many more times.

Since I was a tiny baby. I am not going to let anything ruin this for me. I plan to go to New Orleans for the storm2k meetup, and enjoy myself. I am not going to worry myself to death over petty stuff that can happen anywhere. Nothing is going to stop me from having a good time and enjoying the company of the storm2k folks that I consider like family.

You tell 'em Cajungal! Now THAT's the proud Luzianne Spirit!! :) :) :)

Of course we will be fine. We will be @ the restrant eating or at a bar having a blast , not in that bad parts of town running around the streets bothering the people that live there. I'm sure that if you really wanted to you could get shot but, lets be realistic here. We are going to have a wonderful time and I have a feeling when I leave I am going to have some kind of new found sence. Anyway we going to have a lot of fun.

I bought an outfit for next Saturday! I can't wait to meet everyone! I will be taking lots of pictures on my digital camera. I officially got the weekend off of work and still getting paid for May 20th and 21st! (I have tons of vacation time saved up at work anyway) I can't believe it is next weekend! This will be so much fun. Let's put up the list again to see if any of the maybes are confirmed yet.
