Ya'll have fun and drink a Hurricane or a Margarita for me!!

PS Shoot a shot of Tequila would just do fine too!

That seems a shame.

Yeah. Redfish Grill is on the Canal end of Bourbon (second block (200's) I think). Get off at Orleans and just cut up through Conti or Iberville to the river and park. From there, as you said, you can just walk on over.

Javlin, all of I-10 is open, and all exit ramps are open. I also believe all the parking lots are open too.

Hah! That's crazy. I've never felt safer in New Orleans than I do now. An argument could be made that New Orleans is the country's safest urban area right now. Will it stay like this? Don't know, but I'd bet it'll be the same come May. I say come on down to New Orleans... you'll be pleasantly suprised.

Okay. I just requested Saturday May 20th off from work. I took a vacation day, so I would still get paid for it. I took the Sunday off too. I don't plan on spending the night since I only live an hour away. And can't really afford a hotel room on top of going out to eat and buying drinks on Bourbon. But, I took the Sunday off so I won't be so exhausted going into work that morning. I know I will get the Saturday off, but it is no guarantee I will get the Sunday off. Because there is 3 people in my department including me and we rotate Sundays. So, if it is my Sunday to work, I will probably still have to work it, even if I requested it off. Unless someone agrees to switch with me. Anyway, I am really looking forward to our gathering May 20th.

I just heard on the radio (WWL 870) that there are so few
public defenders and that they are so backloged... they will
likely be releasing thousands of " poor indigent criminals"
back onto the streets... I'm with you Mary...

You only heard half the story....most of these "poor indigent criminals" where picked up by the police before the storm for crimes such as public drunkenness and other minor crimes...also your great radio station forgot to mention that these people more than likely served more time because of the storm and the backlog than if they were to be processed in the correct manner.....THEY ARE NOT RELEASING KILLERS AND RAPIST BACK ON THE STREET. Sorry if i sound mean but I am sick and tired of people getting half the story and talking bad about the state that i have grown up in and love very dearly

New Orleans, especially the downtown and French Quarter area, is probably one of the safest cities in the country right now. I'm in the area all the time and I've never felt so comfortable. It's ashamed to hear some of you feel the opposite. Even if it was the way it was prior to Katrina, I'd still be attending this get together. But now, the relaxed and safe environment New Orleans offers makes it all the better.

And LSU Weather is exaclty right. It's getting rather ridiculous to continue to hear reports from people about this city that are not from here, or from people who only hear parts of the story. Put it this way, I feel much safer in New Orleans right now than parts along the MGC. We will have a GREAT time and I look forward to meeting all of you!
