Wilma Photos **UPDATE** GOT MY POWER BACK TODAY!!
Hi all... Got some Wilma pics for you.
From Sunrise, Davie, Plantation, Pembroke Pines....(Mostly Sunrise)
http://photobucket.com/albums/b349/Dave440/Wilma%20photos%20from%20Sunrise%20Florida/?sc=1&multi=1
Still surviving here (lot better off than many).
Still no power but do have phones, water, gas and my DSL is still up.
Got the generator on now to cool fridge before bed. Bout to power down.
Running out of fuel though. less than 1/2 tank in each of my cars and on my last tank of generator fuel. Lines are 4-5 hrs long. More stations getting power back so hopefully will ease.
Power had been restored across the street from me but transformer blew tonight so they're in the dark again. Power on a few blocks south of me and a few miles north. Also in Parts of Pembroke Pines, Weston and Coral Springs.
Here's a brief description of the photos. Most from Sunrise.
The tree leaning against the roof with the truck in the driveway next door fell against the tailgate of the truck and that roof during the first part of the storm then eye passed and blew it the other way onto the house next door freeing the truck up. Broke the water line to that house but I helped the neighbor patch it temporarily. That house is just diagonally across street from mine.
Car with the dented door and roof pieces is directly in front of mine across the street. The roof pieces came from 3 houses away.
Gas station awning leaning is about 2miles away.
18 wheeler on its side is on Flamingo Road just south of I-595.
CLICK ON THE BLACK THUMBNAIL. THERE IS A PHOTO THERE....
Nice thing about no lights is all the stars. Took a cool timed exposure of night sky and the calm after Wilma moon that night.

Quick update.
KNUCKLEHEADS down the street from me shooting off fireworks tonight. Few blocks over too. Hasn't rained here since the hurricane. Dried tree branches leaves and debris all along the street that sanitation wouldn't pick up. Fireworks at a time like this is a complete bonehead move. Who knows where its gonna land? Could send the whole block up in flames. Didn't say anything cuz ppl who do things like that aren't likely to listen to reason and will likely pull a gun. Called non-emergency police and told them I know they're busy but wanted to see if they had a car in the area. They said too much to do and unless it's an emergency they can't come out. I told them it could be one real fast if the whole block goes up. He said he's sorry but as bad as it sounds unless that happens we can't come out. At this point it's a matter of ....lets hope nothing happens and they run out of fireworks.
Generator on again now for a couple hours to cool the fridge.
Mangaged to get fuel today standing in a gas can line for 3 1/2 hrs. Stood out there from 10am - 130p and got a decent sunburn. The car line was miles long. Only 2 pumps running at that station. Least I have fuel for the generator for a few days now. Power on sporadically around Sunrise. Entire blocks and businesse lit...then total darkness in others. Latest word is we may not get power till Nov 15. Least boil water order is lifted.
If I take any more photos I'll post them.

What's up with that? Here in Kendall, we had people doing the same thing Monday and Tuesday nights. I couldn't figure it out, for the life of me, why someone would do that - especially, as you said, with so much debris - but seeing that others are doing it in other areas has me scratching my head. I've always thought of fireworks as celebrating and although we're all thankful we made it though, celebrating a hurricane isn't something I can relate to.
Thanks for the photos.

Update. Also added More photos
THANKS for the tip Hi-Flyer. I was out in Weston at a Shell on Indian trace 2 days ago but no power yet. Waited 2 hrs cuz power all around it but nothing....so I left. Got gas yesterday fortunately for generator and cars after a loooong gas can wait and a sunburn.
UPDATE 10/29 (PICS UPDATED TOO)
4 Days since Wilma. Still no power....generator humming along right now ...will shutdown soon to save fuel.
New pics added are at the beginning of the album. Older ones towards the end.
Brief explanation of pics is below the link so you know what you're looking at....or rather where....Photos are not in order of descriptions ...

DESRIPTION OF PHOTOS
Davie - Trailer fire at a trailer park that was hard hit. This was 3 days after the storm. News crews were in the air covering this one.
Davie - Snapped and hanging power poles along Flamingo road S. of I-595
Davie - SR84 roof torn off U-Store it, gas station near it has pieces peeled off overhang...looong gas line down 84.
Davie - Bare billboard sign
Plantation - Utility worker fixing power lines
Plantation - Broward blvd Missing traffic lights
Plantation - Looong gas lines on Sunrise Blvd in both directions between Pine Island and University drive
Pembroke Pines - Car accident. Man on stretcher. Pic of the silver car crunched in the street is from this accident.
Pembroke pines. - Another car accident down the road from the first.
(silver car in the grass off the side of the road)
Pembroke Pines - Long gas lines
I've come across 3 accidents in the past 4 days along the same route while taking my dad to work. One happened right in front of me in Sunrise as I was sitting at a 4 way. The lights were working there but the truck in front treated it as a 4 way stop instead of obeying the light and the driver behind him thought the truck was going to keep moving on green and didnt stop. Rear ended the truck. Was dark out and happened so fast It took a minute to figure out what happened.
Thats it for pics...(for now)
Boil water order lifted for many cities including mine. Gas phone (DSL)water still up. Power and cable tv still out. Other side of street got power back but transformer blew and its out again. They dont have phones on that side either. Cell service spotty. Lights on several blocks around us but were in a dark zone. ETA for power back to all areas is Nov15. Hopefully sooner.
Bad as it all sounds... mostly an inconvenience power wise. Only minor structural damage to our house. Many others have tarps on their roofs to cover missing sections or other major damage. Main problem is no work for me and many others due to no power, or as in my case, the additional problem of businesses that the company I work for serves are not up and running yet so no work.
Gonna be a while b4 things are back to normal in S. Florida.

Got my Power Back a few hrs ago.....
No Cable tv yet but who cares when you have A/C? Ahhhh.....
Considering the amount of damage to the Power infrastructure....we were only without power for 8 days. Not bad at all. Credit to FPL, Southwest Power and Cynergy from Indiana.... (those are the trucks I saw) Plus all the the other crews who came down to help! THANKS!!
Moving that generator in and out of the garage twice a day and constantly filling the tank was gettin monotonous and givin me a real backache to boot. Not to mention running to the gas station every other day and having to smell fuel and carry it around in the car. Not exactly safe.
Got my fingers crossed here that they don't have to take the power down to fix any other circuits in our area. I can see a few lines still down nearby. Also that the rest of the season proves uneventful. I found the one direct hit.... Quite sufficient.

Well from my perspective things are getting back to normal. I got my power back a few days after the hurricane hit. And tonight I got my phone and internet back! No damage to the living quarters. Lucky in that respect! So I can say that I can count my blessings this time and hope that things work out else where in So Fla. And here is my vote to end the hurricane season early. Well it is the thought that counts there. I hope that there will be no more storms for the rest of the season! Goodness know we dont need any more!!!

Back to normal for some... gonna be a long time for others. Trucks out here replacing more power poles. My aunt 2 blocks away still has no power.
Plenty of roofs here missing shingles and some sheathing. Lots of tarps. Roofing companies gonna clean up...but going to be expensive due to shortage of materials, especially shingles.
City of Oakland park always floods in storms but even worse recently. Wilma plus the heavy rain we had yesterday in S.Fl another roof began failing on an apt. complex out there and all the residents had to leave.
Traffic still real slow especially in rush hour. Lots of lights out or missing at intersections and many not manned by police and are just 4 way stops. Fortunately a lot of them have reflective cones or stop signs in place now. It was real dangerous before those were in place because you couldn't see where a traffic light used to be with no streetlights and people were blowing intersections after dark.
Saw on the news today that fish are dying and floating to surface at a lake surrounding a villa complex in my city. Catfish and bass floating. Most likely due to sewage spilling into the lake from Wilma. Really smells out there.
I'd say with only losing power for 8 days we made out a lot better than most.

Most everyone around here does have power. In the Hammocks area, specificially, I have friends (located near the Hammocks Library) who have had power since the Thursday after Wilma.

lost power then had power then lost it again - now have it back , hopefully for good! Finally got phone and internet back this afternoon. Yay! REally kind of surprised about the power - just a few blocks from us along a main route into our area all the power poles were totally twisted and snapped. I have never seen anything like it - went for quiet a distance. The lines were laying in the canals. Poles hanging upside down - just amazing - wish I had my camera with me. One of our schools lost their roof over the cafeteria. Relatively new school as well.
Lots of trees down, fences down, lanais all torn up. We live in a fairly new addition and the new homes structurally seemed to be spared for the most part. The older homes seemed to have all the damage. Thankfully Wilma did not bring much rain so very little flooding either here. Power and phones out for most all up until now - still quite a few without power here though.
Glad to see others back and safe.

More power returning to the area here. Trucks worked on a leaning pole on the block behind me. Got between the houses and either put a new one up or straightened it. Didn't see. Power back to that side now.
Further west tho just 3 blks...still no power on both sides of the street.
Line laying on the sidewalk then a house with a wire laying right on the roof.
More traffic lights working every day out west here on my route from Sunrise to Pbrk Pines to take my dad to work. His transportation still isn't running so I'm driving and picking him up daily.
People can't work a simple concept like 4 WAY STOP and determine who goes next. If you've been driving for more than a week....you know the order of traffic lights for the most part but ....people are impatient and go when it's not their turn. I almost got hit a few times and saw some near misses recently.
LARGE Crane across the canal today doin something with a tree. Didn't look like it was leaning on a house or anything...so not sure. Maybe they just wanted it removed since the leaves were gone. Looked a bit dead.
Asplundh trucks everywhere cutting trees and removing debris.
Still no cable but I threw an antenna on the roof... workin for now on most local stations.
Added a few more pics to my gallery... the crane... power crews workin....etc....
My Hurricane Wilma Gallery... Adding new pics all the time...
