Where is St. Bernard Parish?

Is it near downtown NO?

Just asking b/c the news today has been that NO is being helped but there are many in that Parish who are in dire straits....not to mention in MS and AL and the rest of SELA.

i guess if you look under the clouds they got it real bad too!

that area is not in the encircled flooding part but is flooded as you can see just to the left of the clouds over the area.

like said on TV today..."mother nature showed up but did not have much nurturing to offer"--or something like that.

The green arrow are in the upper left.... I drove back through that area and its OK and almost completely back to normal. I could tell the differnce that 36 hours made.

Odd thing in that area...there is an osprey nest on the top of a big cypress...it was still there but trees around it were blown over. Odd like the bird knew where to build.

A teacher I work with now worked and lived in St. Bernard Parish before moving back here a couple years ago. She's asked us for cots, sleeping bags, and inflatable beds as some old friends of hers from St. Bernard Parish are moving in with her for awhile since their homes were flooded. So, yes, there is pretty bad flooding there, too.
