The mayor of Baton Rouge is asking for resources and help with dealing with the flow of evacuees from NOLA. Baton Rouge has seen its population Double in the last week. Many of these people will remain in the BR area for months. Our law enforcement is designed to handle normal crime, emergencys etc for a population of about 500,000 At least 500,000 additional people have relocated to the BR area. This surge has severly taxed the resources of our City Parish Area and help in dealing with this influx is needed NOW according to the Mayor. He was just speaking on TV but I didn't notice whether it was national or local. I suspect local. I sure hope that though NOLA is the center of the crisis in our state, localities that are trying to deal with this massive relocation are not left to fend for themselves. BR is only one example of this. There have already been distrubances at the River Center due to lack of supplies I sure hope that we do not have more problems to come.

I haven't heard anything on any of the cable news networks about this but it won't surprise me to see any of the cities that have taken in refugees complain in the coming weeks about disorderly conduct and the need for additional help. I hate to say it but I believe things are only going to get worse.
