What is the latest reports of damage amounts in dollars? Or death from hurricane Katrina.

Folks, we need to ease up on people asking questions or stating their thoughts. As long as they aren't filing false news reports let them speak (or rather type).

Tensions are definitely high in here.. All he wants to know is what a lot of us want to know.. How many have sadly perished.. and what the $ damage estimates are..

I heard an interesting tidbit earlier:

When you hear "insurance estimates" of $26 billion, what this really means is "wind damage or strutcture damage caused by wind" Many companies don't have policies for floods, and so damaged caused by flood is not included in the estimate.

So, in reality, you're looking at the $26 billion insurance figure, + whatever billions from flooding. (Like NOLA).

In reality, a real figure of $100 billion would not surprise me.

wikipedia is adding them up

Not counting Orlean's 100-999 estimate, I think they're using Nagin's "at least hundereds" quote confirmed fatalities is 253.
