40,000 FT BRAGG NC TROOPS

#1 Postby MBismyPlayground » Thu Sep 01, 2005 4:10 pm

Just announced on Fayetteville Television. I would assume WRAL.
40,000 troops from Bragg being deployed to the LA/MS area to get things back in control.
Also on phone with daughter and her hubbie, an 82nd ABN soldier, just confirmed this.
Soldiers being told they may deployed from 6, 8 or 12 months in the LA area.

I'm starting to think it may not be enough. Looks like they may have to go to Baton Rouge as well.

I am SO embarrassed by all of this.

Just repeating what I have been told. Can find no info on the TV site yet but they tend not to update their page til AFTER the news is broadcast.
But, if you consider how many were sent after Andrew to take control and aid in the rebuilding, then it makes perfect sense.
My son in law said his company was only one of several that would stay in the rear command. He won't be going due to a jump injury. I think daughter would like to see him go and help. Says it has to be better then Iraq for the 3rd Christmas in a row.
