Thanks ladies and guys
Things are beginning to get back to a sense of normalcy around here. However, we still are without electricity. I'm hoping that by the end of today or tomorrow, that will be a thing of the past. It ain't fun getting up every 3 hours and filling the generator with gasoline...not to mention that it gets expensive lol. But hey, at least I can use a fan at night. For the 1st 4 nights it was awfully hot!
I do so much appreciate the prayers, phone calls, and thoughts of all of you!

I finally got through to Kami (MSCoast) today! She's good. They evac'd to P'cola. The only thing that saved her house from having a tree fall on it was...another tree. So, no damage for her. Family, however, not so lucky (sister-in-laws lost home to flooding, brother's roof caved in...I hope I remember those right). Still no power at her house, but she said they're all recovering slowly. Tried to get online at her mom's house, but mom has dial-up and it wasn't staying connected.
Hopefully, she'll be back with us soon and can share more.
Still working on ixolib and MS GulfCoast.

Tim, I'm so very thankful you are safe......but am saddened to learn about your uncle. This must be the week for sad news; my grandmother and I just returned home from attending my uncle Bill's (mom's brother) funeral in Morristown, Tennessee

I'm also very thankful for those Storm2k members who are safe.....am continuing to pray for those who haven't checked in....and those who suffered losses from the hurricane.
May God Bless,
Perry

I'm still so very concerned about Ixolib and MS GulfCoast. I think of them often and hope that everything is well with them. Glad to hear MSCoast (Kami) is OK despite her families losses.
Thanks to all of you who have tried so hard to get in touch with missing members and keeping the rest of us informed. It really means a lot to so many of us.This tragedy has hit so close to home (literally) for so many of our members. Unfortunately, their blight has be overshadowed my the media coverage in NOLA.
Godspeed to all who were affected and thanks again to Duckie, Mary, Cajan Mama and all the others who have gone above and beyond!!! Kudos to each of you!

Scroll up, gang! MS GulfCoast is safe as well.
As for ixolib, I just called some possible relatives near the coast (same last name, only two other families there), hoping they might know something about his whereabouts now. Unfortunately, they didn't recognize the name. However, they gave me a name of someone in the family who is into the geneology stuff and she gave me a brief history of the family and said that he must be related if he has the last name. She gave me a number for someone in Corpus Christi (nope, no knowledge of George there) and also promised to check around for any George in their family tree. I asked if she could find it, his wife's maiden name would also be helpful. I figured if he's not with his family, he could be with hers...somewhere. Or they might know something. But until we know it, it's impossible to call anyone from her side.
People have been incredibly helpful and supportive during these calls. I just hope something pans out somewhere down the road.

When the phone rang and he picked up, I asked for George and he said "This is him." I was SOOOOO relieved to hear his voice! His house is 30 feet above sea level and he got 4 feet of water in it. He said the water came up fast and they don't have a second story so they had to wade around in it and ended up getting on the couch. They had quite a few relatives there as they told everyone to come there, saying "We'll be fine! We survived Camille in this house." He said nobody expected what Katrina brought.
They lost all 4 of their cars but he considers himself very fortunate, even though they have serious damage. His house is still standing.
He praised Red Cross, FEMA, and his insurance company even though he sees others complaining, saying the response there has been great. He said it's a war zone not far from his house.
He said to tell everyone here thanks for the thoughts and prayers and he loves and misses Storm2k.
He just got power back last night but still has no internet.
* a BIG sigh of relief*
