Nope, not having any luck with 228 or 601 either.

HOWEVER, I did find another resource -- http://boards.news.yahoo.com/boards/ -- for searching for survivors and where people can check in. It's merged (thank God someone finally merged a number of those databases!) with NOLA.com, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and a handful of other sites' lists. I was heartened to find a "searching for" listing for a friend of mine and her family from Gulfport. I tried to call the family member, but there was no answer just a little while ago. However, there was an email listed also, so I sent a message via that route. Hoping to hear that maybe they've heard something.

Tried searching for a couple of our missing members, but still no lucky. I got one hit for "Kami" but not our Kami. And one hit for someone with the same name for another (but in this case, the S2K'er has the last name, but it's the first name for the person on the list).

But for anyone else here who is looking for someone OR if you or someone with you is OKAY, please list them there so that others can find them.

BillieJeanne lost her home and car. They are underwater. Her pets drowned too. She left Biloxi and is staying with friends in Florida.

She said she will come in the chatroom tonight.

Wow, poor thing. The best news is that she is safe.

I've checked every one of these names in the last couple of hours, and I've found some that probably can be noted as SAFE. Also, Alabamamom is duplicated in the topic post.

I have to admit it, after reading some of the last posts made by people listed below, there are some on this list that I'm particularly concerned about.

See the comments after some of the names for people who might need to be updated.

You can mark Goodlife down as safe. I've seen her post on another forum where she is a moderator. She lived just north of Lake Ponchatrain, and I've heard that her house did not suffer major damage. She and her family evacuated, and they are all fine.

My best friend lives in the 228 area code (Gulfport) and her home phone just started working late late this afternoon. Her cell phone (which is also 228) has been working since Wednesday but with very unreliable coverage. I've been attached at the hip to my phone waiting for any call she is able to get through to play relay and pass messages on to other friends and work.

Just an idea, due to what I've been through with my best friend, perhaps Storm2K could have one of the mods carry a designated after-storm emergency contact number (an emergency cell phone or 800 number) to help with the privacy issues that some members have posted about and perhaps make after storm contact easier?

I am not sure where to post this link, so I am doing it here unless there is somewhere more appropriate.
This is a place where pictures are posted. Alot of these people are at shelters and have posted their pic to let family know they are OK

Hopefully the folks who are hosting those pictures can get some bandwidth donated by their ISP, because they seem to be overloaded at this time.

Yay, through that Yahoo link above, I finally got in contact with a family member of a friend and her family from Gulfport. She said that they evac'd on the weekend before Katrina hit. They were in Houston (dang it, so close and I missed them!) until yesterday morning. Hubby, wife, 2 kids...all safe. I have a cell number and email addy, but still haven't reached them directly. But good news regardless.

Still trying the S2K members without luck yet.

I'm so glad to hear Tim is okay but very sorry to hear about his uncle passing away. Your family is in my prayers Tim (if you're reading this).

Thanks for passing along that info Lori.

duckie...Bluefrog is safe...lost everything. She came into chat late last night. I quote her about her condo..."wiped off the face of the earth". But she's alive and safe and that's all that matters.

Yeah, it was great to talk to froggie. I wish we would hear from Ixolib and MScoast and many others we still haven't heard from. I know those 2 were staying though. Ixolib was riding it out at home. He lives near Keesler. MScoast had to work at one of the hospitals in Biloxi early Monday morning.

Any info on these areas would be great. I'm so worried.
