Severe Weather Check-in

#1 Postby southerngale » Thu Oct 20, 2005 7:55 pm

Hey guys!

A request from the staff:
If you would please (and feel comfortable doing so), could you PM your contact information (any of the following: cell #, home #, work #, and/or a # where you can be reached if you evacuate) to me (southerngale), GalvestonDuck or Lindaloo? That way, in the event that we don't hear from you for a while after the storm, we can make attempts to reach you and get updates on how you're doing to let the rest of the S2K family know. Your information will remain confidential.

Furthermore, if you guys could post here and let us know when you're checking out (even if you don't send in your information) and then check back in when you can. That way, we don't all worry and wonder.

Stay safe, stay prepared, and stay in touch! :) We care about you.

Thanks!

Wilma Info

#2 Postby HurricaneQueen » Sat Oct 22, 2005 12:33 am

Hi Gale:

We will be leaving Naples and going inland and north about 30 miles. Staying at the Comfort Suites at the SW Fl airport. We are in Rm *** and the phone number is (239) ***-****. My cell # is (239) ***-**** and PDA # is (239) ***-****. I'll be online as long as the cell towers hold.

We will leave finally (have been hauling things up there tonight) either late tomorrow or early Sunday. We are supposed to be out of here by 8 a.m. on Sun at the latest.

Thrilled to find this pet friendly motel which is well away from the surge. Hopefully, the winds won't be too bad as I promised myself never again would I go through a strong hurricane. I'm planning on this losing some of its punch over the next couple of days.

Thanks and if things aren't too crazy I'll let you know as we are about to leave.

Hey Gale-
We will be staying in Naples, we are in Gloden Gate Estates, so we are far enough away from the surge. I will check in and post updates as long as the power stays, then we have generator backup, so I should be able to get things out.
I would also like to add a great big Thanks to all on storm2k, I have been a member since just about the start, although I don't post much, I know I can always count on everyone here for the lastest updates and information.
Everyone please stay safe and out of harms way.

will be staying on the Rickenbacker Causeway. You will know that I am OK by the products being released by the nwhhc. I am the forecaster through the duration. If forecasts stop... well then we know what happened

Just wanted to offer my input to this issue. If you can't log in due to no service or if your phone service (cell or landline) are not working, try to contact someone outside the area and have them log in here on your behalf to let her (and the rest of us) know you're okay. Otherwise, you can bet she will be moving heaven and earth to try and find you!! :D :D

Had I had the foresight to do this after Katrina, I would have saved Southerngale -- and many others -- a lot of heartache as they could not reach me at the number I provided (my cell floated away  ).

As it worked out, she could not contact me until September 9, which was 11 days after the storm!! In fact, hers was the very first call I received on my new cell phone!! I believe we were both equally surprised to hear each other's voices!!

My wife, dog and I are shuttered up and hunkered down here in Royal Palm Beach. We are behind the water plant in Saratoga Pines. Good luck all. We have a generator and will fire it up after the storm passes. I will be able to check in after the storm or whenever power returns. 8-)

I don't have your info. It's possible you sent it to someone else and they just haven't sent it to me yet, but please PM it to me in case that didn't happen.

Ixolib - Surprised and THRILLED!!! :)

Best of luck and prayers to everyone in Wilma's path...

Wilma Survivors.

#14 Postby sprink52 » Fri Oct 28, 2005 5:39 pm

We finally got DSL line back today 10/28/05. No power yet. This is day 5. We are on generator and have had to get in gas lines twice for gen. gas. Publix, Walgreen's and Winn Dixie have power and are running. We had no structural damage. We lost a few screen pannels on the pool enclosure and most of our landscaping. Many roofs in our area that were shingle are severely damaged but the tile roofs suffered very little damage. We did have the eye here for about an hour. The back half of the storm was much worse that the front half. We also still don't have our main telephone line. Most people in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties are with out power. I am tired of hurricanes. This one has been tough on us. Thanks for listening. 8-)
