Just thought everyone might like to know that more help is on the way. I received an email from the Director of the Middle TN Medical Reserve Corps (Mid-TN MRC) last night, and in the next few days the Mid-TN MRC will be sending quite a few physicians, nurses, mental health professionals, public health professionals, logistical support and admin staff to the Gulf Coast areas. Additionally, I was told that patients will start arriving via military transport planes in Nashville tomorrow.
I work in the Pediatric Critical Care Unit at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. We are the only major children's hospital in a 3-state area, so we will surely receive many of the children affected by the hurricane. As much as I'd like to deploy to the Gulf Coast to assist victims at ground zero, I think I will be needed more at the children's hospital.
Anyway, more help is on the way soon. Hang in there, and God bless.
