What a great Message Board!
I have always been interested in Tropical Weather and "secretly" look forward to each year's season. I have a basic understanding of tropical systems, but would like to develop more advanced knowledge and begin to learn some forecasting skills. What web sites are a good starting point for me?
There seem to be some incredibly knowledgable people on this board and I have learned a lot just by following the post. It sure seems like some of the amateur weather enthusiasts are as skilled as the pros!
Thanks for any information.

Slosh, WELCOME to STORM2K! Thanks for the compliments on our "home".
You will find that there are truly some very talented amateur tropical forecasters such as Cycloneye, Stormsfury and our newest "amateur"-soon to be a degreed meteorologist-Alhurricane-on this board. We also have talented CONUS forecasters in the likes of Kingofweather and Therock1811 at Storm2k. They have all been picked due to their dedication to forecasting over the years and their demonstration of a good understanding of how weather works(for lack of a better way to say it).
We also have some currently active Professional Mets, as well as some retired mets that frequent this board. Storm2k is a good place to do some of your learning to say the least. Even though I am one of the amateur forecasters here, I am still learning due to the nature of the peers I have here at Storm2k.
The best way to learn is to do what you have already done-ASK QUESTIONS!!! THERE IS NEVER A STUPID QUESTION UNLESS IT ISN'T ASKED!!!! We will all strive to answer your questions to the best of our abilities and we all welcome you to the board we consider "THE BEST ON THE NET"!!!
