Schools cancelled Wednesday in Lee County.
School cancelled Wednesday in Collier County.
School cancelled Wednesday in DeSoto County.
School cancelled Wednesday in Glades County.
School cancelled Wednesday in Hendry County.
Hendry closes government, opens shelters - See information below.
All Lee County Schools extracurricular activities and adult education classes cancelled starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Collier County opens shelters - See information below

FGCU will be closed on Wednesday, August 30 due to Tropical Storm Ernesto.

Florida Inst. Of Tech http://www.fit.edu will be close 3pm today. Reopens Thurs. as normal

wow! I think it is insane they are closing schools in ORANGE AND SEMINOLE counties, as well as many other inland central FL counties because of this. I mean I can understand big time storms like Charley, Frances and Jeanne causing them to close...but ERNESTO? I just don't understand how in 2001 they did not close during Hurricane Gabrielle, but for this weaker TS they will. Doesn't make sense.

Hope they enjoy their day off, because when they have to make it up later (for a storm that will likely be un-eventful in Orlando), the students will probably not be too happy.
