FSU mm5 6k Very high resolution model.....

#1 Postby ericinmia » Sat Aug 26, 2006 11:17 pm

FSU runs their model at three different resolutions 6k, 18k and 54k

The smaller the resolution the much longer it takes to run, but is VERY detailed and much more precise/accurate.

They don't run the 6k very often, except when hurricanes are threatening people, since its much more difficult for them to process.

It only goes out a little beyond 24 hours... but it can show you what it thinks will occur in a very high resolution view.

I'll leave the interpretation up to you all for now...

It makes me wonder where we will be in 15-20 years with the way that technology progresses. ;)

Neat find . . . and that is very high resolution, just look at the lines in Central America. Anyway, shows a track right into/a tiny touch north of Jamaica. That seems to be on track so far. Also shows a quicker deepening as it approaches (i.e. around T+24 from the 12Z run today = tomorrow morning). That'll be interesting to see if it pans out . . .
