Many, many, many more than are on now. Over 400 at one time during Katrina, if I recall correctly.

I think that there will be 600-700 OR MORE when there is a real threat to the U.S..
Hope the server can handle it.
I remember last year they took some features out like Spelchek and the such to get the server moving along.
I think we WILL have to keep "on topic" big time and not quote too much to keep this thing going during "crunch time".

LOL and I wasn't even online that day, I was in a cramped car with a bunch of family members heading west on I-10 outta town.

Ditto on the offline status the day before Katrina hit. And I'd bet that ironic twist often applies to any of us who find ourselves close to or directly in harm's way with an approaching storm. After all the online tracking, discussing, and round-the-clock watching of these buggers, you suddenly have absolutely no time whatsoever to be near a computer because you're prepping the house and yard, stocking up on last minute supplies, checking in on neighbors, taking in evacuating friends and relatives (or evacuating yourself, God forbid), and watching the local media for pertinent info.
C'est un ouragan.
