Now that we have Debby, I think we should guess the next one.

Ahem dwg (clears throat) ... I said strong tropical storm, NOT major hurricane. Although it appears many here do believe Ernesto will be a big boy threatening someone next week.
The trend this season certainly has been watching fledgling systems get squashed. I guess the big question is have atmospheric conditions changed enough to encourage development? Most of the pro mets I have read seem to be saying it has.
