Still a Tropical storm with 65 mph winds but a little less organized now.

Here is the discussion from the 4 PM CDT advisory that still calls for hurricane landfall but more north that projected that is why the hurricane warnings are extended more north.

They are still forecasting Claudette to make a move towards the West-Northwest. They have been saying this for days. I just don't see it making this turn. Maybe to the Northwest instead of the North-Northwest but that should be the extent of it. Do y'all agree?

To all the members that may be at the path of Claudette I say to them good luck and hopefully it passes fast and not move slowly because the main threat will be the torrential rains.Prayers from me to all the people in the warning areas.

I agree fully with NHC extending hurricane warnings to include Galveston, but don't believe that area will recieve sustained hurricane conditions...because Claudette is small and compact. It's best to err on the side of caution in such a populated and vunerable area.

Even landfall at Freeport would likely mean winds less than hurricane force in Galveston....and I believe the eye will cross the Texas Coast farther south (I'm projecting landfall in the Bay City to Palacios area).

The high pressure area expected to develop over the Central US and extend into Texas hasn't materialized as fast as all the global models have led us to believe ... and has allowed Claudette to come farther northward than originally expected ... plus a new ULL SW of Claudette hasn't had any influence yet on pulling Claudette westward as of yet, either ...

The bottom line is if and when that westward turn occurs is the most important determination of where's Claudette exact landfall point should be ... IMO, that's a good window of landfall projections ...
