NAM looks Intresting in the Carribian....

#1 Postby wxman22 » Thu Jul 27, 2006 6:06 pm

Looks like the NAM model wants to forcast some tropical develoment in the Carribian. Ofcourse it's to early to tell and the Nam is not the best model when it comes to Tropical systems, but it has been pretty good this year.... If other models pick up on this things could be intresting....

Great, so now we have three possible development areas to watch.

Ever since the NAM changed to the WRF, the model has gone from bad to worse. Of course, an area to watch and see if any other models catch on, but nothing to cancel your cruise on.

I think we could have 3 developed systems on the field soon.

TWC focused a little on the SW Caribbean during the Tropical Update a couple of hours ago...of course, the meteorologist assured everyone it was nothing to worry about...but they did at least show the area for a few seconds.

AN CENTRAL CARIBBEAN SEA TROPICAL WAVE IS ALONG 23N67W 15N69W
INTO NORTHWESTERN VENEZUELA. SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS STRONG
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING FROM 9N IN NORTHWESTERN
VENEZUELA TO 15N IN THE CARIBBEAN SEA WATERS BETWEEN 69W AND
75W. NUMEROUS STRONG SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ALSO ARE IN HAITI
NOW. THIS PRECIPITATION HAD BEEN TAKING PLACE AT 27/1815 UTC
FROM THE EASTERN SECTIONS OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC...TO THE
ATLANTIC WATERS FROM 90 NM TO 120 NM TO THE NORTHWEST OF THE
EASTERN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC...TO THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS.
PRETTY MUCH ALL OF THAT HAS WEAKENED BY NOW...WITH ONLY THE
HAITI SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.

This area is associated with the southern part of that Caribbean wave I believe.
