Well this has been a very tenacious system and a great fighter against all the odds but I think that the fate of her is very near because if you look at the water vapor shear is increasing thanks to the anticyclone in the caribbean.The LLC that the recon fixed tonight is far from that burst of convection and there may be multiple vortexes.Unless a miracle happens and things become favorable in the GOM for her to strenghen it is over and the fat lady is singing.Rip.

I don't think she's done yet, the overall cloud structure on the north, east, and south sides still looks pretty good. I think the best chance she has would be for the center to reform NE which could be happening tonight. I think we can all relax a little around the Gulf Coast because this probably not be a very strong storm if/when it makes landfall.

I'm really surprised that Dr. Avilla didn't kill her off tonight. He talked about an elongated low pressure area. In the past, he's seemingly been real quick to hand these things off to the High Seas Forecast people. I'll bet if there wasn't a form of political pressure there, he would have. By "political pressure", I mean that NHC probably realizes that this thing is too close to the shores to take off the public's radar screen by calling it a gale and sending it down the hall to the TAFB people.

Well the fat lady this saturday is preparing to sing as claudette is looking worse and worse and will be downgraded later today unless a miracle happens.

I'm not completely giving her up yet...she's overcome many other things...and I don't think she's about to die yet. She may be a very weak TS, but she's not going to die.
