Sad that it takes something like this....

#2 Postby AdvAutoBob » Wed May 31, 2006 7:52 am

It's a sad state of affairs that people have to be reminded of what to expect, living in hurricane threatened areas. Even worse is having to be told "you're on your own", when most people with a modicum of common sense would already know that. 40 years of programming apparently has worked, people literally have been looking to the government for help, when they should have been proactive and helped themselves.

1 day to go.... are YOU prepared?

Living on the coast...hurricanes are part of it. It is something we deal with and live with. The best thing you can do is have a plan if the unfortunate happens.

Those codgers on the Outer Banks probably wouldn't be in the line of whiners if they lose everything - but if their lack of preps smashes into YOUR house or boat...then there could be a few problems.
I think after last year (and after many last year's) this article has brought me to the point of saying, Ok, I'm off the *get ready* preaching tour. If people want to get ready, good. If not, oh well. If they don't have a choice in the matter for a wide variety of valid reasons, I hope they can get help.
Maybe that is just too cynical, but sometimes I really, really wonder about humans.
