Also notice these blobs are beginning to originate a little further to the north now.

I'm still amazed that as busy as 2005 was, it was a very slow cape verde season.

If this train of waves continues we could see an early CV system forming out in the Atlantic, something amiss last year.

I do not think anything will form out there for a while. A CV system in May is unheard of. Watch the blobs as they roll offshore, the convection tends to diminish rather quickly. Rather typical for this time of year.

What we are seeing as far as the amount of convection over the continent looks relatively normal to me for this time of year. In fact I think it looks more normal than last year did at this time except for the fact the ITCZ is still lower than normal for this time of year. With the MDR primed and ready once the ITCZ moves to a "normal" position I would expect the CV season to happen this year, unlike last year.
