NOAA article: warming in hurricane formation area in 20th C.
This is interesting. It is a lot better than many of the other articles out there dealing with global warming. This could cause some interesting debate...
Here is the article from NOAA...
Warming of main hurricane formation area in 20th Century
I think this is interesting. What do you think?

Actually, there could be more than we think factoring into this cycle, such as natural atnospheric patterns. Any thoughts on this? Also, could some of those natural atmospheric patterns be influencing a decrease in tropical cyclone activity in other basins?
I think this article is interesting because the development area in the Atlantic mentioned has generally warmed in the 20th Century, other than for natural cooling cycles in between. Any thoughts?

I posted a short comment about a new paper by Phil Klotzbach on global cycle activity 1986 - 2005 in the global weather forum.

You're looking for "proof" in a press article?
And you're not going to find 100% proof of anything in nature, so in a very real sense "suggests" and "may" are quintessentially scientific words.

I never even posted this article as proof of global warming or because I believe in serious global warming. I just posted it because it is an interesting article.
Also, why the hard feelings and animosity? Just because the article lacks immediate proof doesn't mean that it is not a good article. For a press release article, it is a good one, especially for open minds. Also, compare this article to the other articles out there which tend to be very biased on one direction or another regarding global warming/cycles. This is much better than many other articles out there.

CVW, I have no hard feeling or anomisty towards anyone here. I was discrediting the author thats all. I belive the globe is warming, just that it is not human induced. When I took the vast majority of my science classes years ago, I don't recall being allowed to use the term "suggest" of "may" when we were making a conclusion. Our conclusion had to be black-and-white, X causes Y. We were not allowed to speculate, but I guess science has changed quite a bit since I concluded my studies......MGC

I don't think it's accurate to say the other basins are near or below average in temperature. Activity is, of course, the subject of quite a lot of current research. I'd say the jury is still out on that one.
