KFDM TV has been named the 2006 Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Station of the Year.
KFDM received the award on Saturday, April 8 at the TAPB statewide awards convention in Grapevine, near Dallas.
The station received the award for its contributions to the Associated Press during Hurricane Rita, and in the days, weeks and months that followed.
Texas AP Broadcast Editor Diana Heidgerd of Dallas presented the award.
"We all have dramatic stories about hurricane coverage, but tonight the Texas AP is honoring one station in particular," said Heidgerd. "KFDM Television in Beaumont...for helping the Associated Press get the word out in what was one of the biggest stories of our lives."
