Unnamed subtropical storm=Vince?

Creits to Clamity...

As you can see the 5th through the 6th as the system moved northward. Then on the 6th merged with the extratropical low which became Vince. That low then moved southeastward.

So this subtropical storm made Vince possible with its tropical energy/energy boosted. So in a way this was Vince.

I've just realised this was picked up by the Dvorak estimates. http://www.ukweatherworld.co.uk/forumold/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=24287&start=1

It looks to me like the low that formed STS 19 was the one around the triple point on these two images. http://www.met.fu-berlin.de/de/wetter/maps/Analyse_20051005.gif, and http://www.met.fu-berlin.de/de/wetter/maps/Analyse_20051006.gif

The low around the triple point dissipates after that as with the NHC map, leaving the cut off low to the south to drift SE and form Vince.

Perhaps.. looks like most of the ST was shunted to the north though as a huge piece of energy was dropping southward.

This brings up something interesting things. If this storm were noticed and named, it would've been Tammy. So Tammy would've been Vince, Vince would've been Wilma  , Wilma would've been Alpha  : , Beta would've been Gamma, and so on till we got to what would've been Theta. Would the U.S. have wanted to retire Alpha because it would've been the most intense hurricane ever pressure wise?

Good point. Chances are...it might not have been upgraded to avoid the confusion at the WMO conference and make sure there was no conflict with the Greek list. :D

But no one at that point knew that Wilma(should've been Alpha) was going to explode in intensity and do the damage it did. :D

If Wilma was Alpha it could of not been retired. Why because you can't retire a number. Your talking about a top 5 costliest storm not being able to be retired.

If that happened you'll find Greek letters never being used again and a back-up list would have been created I suspect.

Not sure if this is the same system you guys are talking about but it looks like they added one to the list making the 2005 total 28 storms
