Atlantic Hurricane Season starts on June 1st and ends on November 30th. The best way for me to explain this is to show you some charts which I have posted on here before from the NHC. Typically August, September and October are the busiest times.

Busiest season is actually Late August to early October (I believe the peak is actually near mid Sept to Late Sept)... unfortunately that puts the Gulf areas in a high risk zone during those times.

Where to look for at each time?
Before the season - Generally the far open Atlantic for the rare events, but also the Gulf of Mexico as we get into May, closer to the season.
June - Most activity is in the Gulf of Mexico and the western Caribbean Sea, with prevailing tracks ranging from the Florida Panhandle to the southern part of Mexico.
July - Less bias towards the Gulf and more in the Caribbean and in the open western Atlantic.
August - Heavy emphasis on the Central Atlantic and east of the Lesser Antilles, plus off the Southeast coast of the US.
September - No real prevailing tracks. They can be almost anywhere in the Atlantic basin.
October - Strong emphasis on the western and central Caribbean Sea, with most moving northward towards Florida or westward into Central America.
November - Slight activity in the Caribbean, but much very late activity is far out in the middle of the Atlantic.
December - Rare activity is usually in the open central Atlantic.

No it wont be locked because although we have a countdown thread,as I see her question it's not only about when the season starts but about when the season is at it's peak time and comming from someone who doesn't know a lot about tropical weather it's legit to let this thread go ahead.

Yes, I see your reason - perhaps the title should be changed accordingly to reflect this.
