The mods have recognized the significant downfall of storm2k in the
last year or so. Additionally., they have taken corrective actions
to resolve some of the major issues.

Polls - In the last year, the number of polls was ridiculous, and most
of them were meaningless that centered on hypothetical situations.

dhweather's opinion - polls are great, but in the proper time, context,
and focus on relevant and serious topics.

Posting just to post - The system in place to categorize members based
upon the number of posts is great, but is also problematic. People
need to remember QUALITY POSTS OVER THE QUANTITY OF POSTS.

dhweather's opinion - everyone wants to be a cat 1 immediately. I truly
believe that this ranking system results in a few people abusing posting
privileges simply to up their number of posts as they try to attain
a higher number of posts. I will prefer a quality post from a tropical
wave over a meaningless post from a cat 5 any day of the week.

Rudeness - There has been a significant increase in people being flat out
rude in their posts. There is no reason for this period. The mods are
going to fix this, and quickly, so I'd think long and hard before posting
something you wouldn't say to your own mother or father.

dhweather's opinion - the mods are dead on, and people need to
remember the golden rule - do unto others as you would have them do to you.

I look forward to the "back to normal" storm2k.

I have to agree about the posting just to post part. You and I are thinking the same thing on that trust me. And I can think of a member or two here that fit that description PERFECTLY.

Good Topic.

Rude comments is what I think needs to be focused on mostly. You'd think that being 13 to join this site you would have some maturity.

Its one think to make 20-30 posts a day that are meaningful, like a personal opinion about the upcoming season, a personal forcast, a game in the games forum, or even crack a joke or two, even the occasional bump.

Its a complete diffrent think to make 40 one to three word posts a day or something completely pointless or off topic replies.

please put at least some thought to a post before submitting it people 8-)

I am glad to see they will be addressing the issues of rudeness. Many people that post on here are curious about tropical weather, including myself, and just want to learn. Sometimes there are some unneccessary comments made toward some of the posters who are just trying to learn and are enthusiastic about the topics on the discussion board.

This is a great forum, probably the best one I know of, and I feel privlidged to be a part of.

I agree but realistically how can the mods control its 8300 members on this board. They can suspend people but theirs still allot of members of S2K that do abide by the rules including myself and few that are rude unfortunately.

"Is this season dead?"

"SAL this SAL that"

"Is this storm overrated?"

"Was the storm stronger/weaker then the NHC says" (although sometimes a legit arguement)

"Hello I'm a Troll I'm going to start crap"

"I'm not evacuating, am I an idiot?"

"Whats going to happen in 2007" (Even better when posted June 1st 2006)

"FEMA"

"But (in)accuweather says"

and so on

To both of you and everyone else: Please remember that we can't possibly read every post and we do count on you, the members, to alert us to a problematic post. We'll take care of it from there, but we do count on you guys to help us by sending a quick PM to a mod or admin. If one isn't online, send it to one or two of us and we'll handle it when we get online.

You dont have to be a mod to make a diffrence, as members we are obligated to report trolls, rulebreakers, and crap posts its part of what makes a forum great.

I love this place... I do. I am young... have any of my posts on here been bad? I would like to know. If so, I'm sorry. Ditto, dhweather.

I am a big peruser of many forums, and I have perused this forum many times before finally getting the courage to sign on, but I have seen DH post similar threads before. I guess you take the members as you get them. DH, I think the admins and the owners have a handle on the issue and are addressing them.
