This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

future seasons or is this a freak of mother nature to pull one out of her ***. This is unbelievable, but I think 2006 will bring more surprises...

I think 2006 will be a very active season, but I don't think it will be as active as this year. I do fear that the landfalls we do have will be quite destructive, as they were this year, but I pray they are few and far between(since we know it is almost impossible for us not to have any landfalls).

I'm thinking, at the very least, all of these broken records show that next year isn't going to be a piece of cake either, unfortunately. I almost feel guilty for enjoying the process of tracking hurricanes. Almost.

Well, after 2004, many of us probably thought it would be unlikely to see as many destructive landfalls for 05, myself included, so I wouldn't be surprised if 06 offered up some surprises of its own.

2006 could easly come close to 2005. I don't think it will beat it in number but in strength come very close. There will be alot more cape verde storms which means it has a chance of getting a few long tracking Ivan. In which it will likely beat the record for ACE.

I also think that southeastern Florida will see a cat5 this year year.

I say

20-22 named storms
12 hurricanes
7 major hurricanes
2 cat5s

i dont think there will be as many storms, but i think there will be some monster storms in 2006, remember the days when cat 5's were rare? now they seem to have become the norm

Funny thing is, substitute 2005 for 2006, and this is exactly what I said last year. Boy was I wrong.
