Had to Get Back Home...

#1 Postby MWatkins » Mon Oct 24, 2005 1:02 am

About 4 hours ago...after helping Mark set up cams in Everglades city and Marco Island...I raced across alligator alley to get home. I am/was extreemly concerned about the possibility for significant problems over here...and I was very concerned about getting across Alligator Alley after this hurricane goes right over it.

So...I'm home...the boys are sleeping and we're prepared here in Coconut Creek.

I'm all out of meteorological analysis...the pressure is down to 954MB...the eye is huge...and it is not going to weaken much if at all before it gets here. Wilma will be the strongest hurricane to affect Broward County since King in 1950 I believe.

Outer bands are just getting here...and the core is several hours away...so I am going to try to get some sleep.

I hope residents of eastern FL are ready...this is going to be a long day tomorrow and at least the weather will be nice and cool tomorrow night.

By the way...the cams in Naples, Everglades City and Naples are still up and running at this hour...

Hunkering down and sleeping with flashlights in Coconut Creek...
