Considering Wilma's Strength, Just How Important Is The MJO?

This is the first hurricane season that I've really paid any mind to the MJO and I'm not convinced of its importance.

I mean, we're in the dry phase of the MJO, are we not? Yet, there's a raging monster in the north-western Caribbean. What gives? :?:
