What is the brown area on the gulf coast and in the gulf? Is that dry air or a high??? It was much higher this morning, but has now moved down into the gulf. Is this what is stalling the storm? Is this what is going to push Wilma to the East? If this area moves out of the Gulf before Wilma gets there will it mean the door will be open for her to move further North. It would be very helpful if someoone could explain this map to me so I can watch the progress on my own. Here's the link

I am by no means a Pro- just a lurker mostly. But from lurking around for more than a year now, this seems to be dry air coming down and I believe when that occurs that stops the direction of the storm and may stall it, like the models may be hinting at?? Or, may change the direction- I don't know.
Maybe a Pro can help us understand???

Thanks --- that's what i was thinking. This morning that dry air had not moved so far down into the Gulf. I'm wondering if the dry air continues to move down it will eventually cover the rest of Southern Florida and protect it. If the dry air continues to move South maybe it will push Wilma back over Eastern Cuba as some of the models are showing. I just wish I could find out if this has anything to do with it.
