Funny: Tropical Misinformation

#1 Postby Regit » Mon Oct 17, 2005 8:46 pm

I have fun reading different message boards on the net. Some message boards will depress you to the brink of suicide when you realize people like this really exist. Anyway, I thought I'd post a few tidbits from others on the net that will help us all appreciate Storm2k. The quotes below are exact copy pastes from other MBs.

-There's not a chance this storm will be a hurricane but the misery loving leftist media will not miss a chance to predict the worst.

-any idiot knows hurricanes can't hit in october and november they only go to mexico.

-hurricanes dont always fall apart over land

-There have been many scientific studies this year that show that waters are no warmer than they have ever been and that an increase in water temperatures had no effect on the hurricanes this year.

-this hurricane season has been no more active than those in the past

-It'll never become more than a TD. (Note: this was posted Monday at 5:51 PM EDT.)

-No one is forecasting this to become a hurricane.

-it will move into the gulf and probably make landfall in NC.

-Why aren't the evacating yet?

-Hurricanes don't HAVE to be WARM. They said earlier that Wilma was 89 BELOW ZERO!

-hurricanes don't hit west florida.

-I think the Weather Channel gets all its stuff from accuweather.

-EVEN THE WEATHERMAN IS USING SCARE TACTICS AS A MEANS TO GAIN RATINGS,,DO YOU EVER THINK THE AMERICAN WAY HAS PLACED ITS VALUES IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES ? LMAO,,,YOU'RE SO SHALLOW !

-If this is a cat 3 or more then most of floridas coast is going to be underwater

-big oil hoping for a F5

-This is just a ratings ploy! How dumb can you people be! When the hurricane center says they expect this to become a hurricane then I'll worry!

-Haven't the already decided wilma is going to New Orleans? Thats what the news said.

-But none of the 1933 storms made landfall.

-Hugo hit Florida, moron!

Hope you enjoyed!

That's halfway true. Katrina didn't fall apart over FL. Andrew only lessened a little after Florida. And, sometimes if a system heads over or skirts a very small piece of land they aren't effected as much.

Now the rest of the posts, they're quite silly.

Arlene of this year did weaken over land, but it looked a lot better while over land than it did at any point while it was over water.

:shocked!:

 :roflmao:

It is ashame that boards like this are out there. With all this miss information. geessshh. Now ya know why some people aren't prepared when a hurricane comes. They think what they want to think, no matter what the t.v. is telling them. I agree the media can hype things, but there are alot of truths to what the are airing.

Actually, I didn't post the whole of the original post because of space. But the argument being made by the poster is that hurricanes can thrive over land because they did in the movie "The Day After Tomorrow," despite the fact that that was a movie and those weren't hurricanes.
