Cursed

#1 Postby HurryKane » Mon Oct 17, 2005 9:37 am

The Tuesday and Wednesday before Katrina hit, I was on a business trip for a specific kind of meeting in Vicksburg, MS.

Guess where I'm traveling to this week, for the exact same meeting, on the exact same days (Tue/Wed)?

Yep. I'm going to kill the organizer if Wilma heads this way.

Don't make me come over there and pop you in the cheek, munk.

I am however looking forward to shopping at a fully stocked Wal-Mart up there with lines less than 30 people long. :)

It's entirely LPD's fault.

I been to Tarjay, the lines were very short. And the only Kmart for miles is sorta broken.

I'm not picking on Walmart, I'm picking on the fact that there are only so many to go around, that population near them has doubled/tripled, and that the retail infrastructure to handle such increases in consumer base is just not there.

Eric, where I live we don't have a Target and our Kmart closed last year. Wally's all that's left. Oh, and Winn Dixie -- and the lines are long there too.

We don't have any Target's nearby - wish we did.

We lost two super wal marts - Pass Christian and Waveland.
Waveland K-Mart is closed as well, and Pass Christian K mart destroyed.

There's only ONE grocery store open in Hancock County, here in Diamondhead. The Gulfport and Picayune wal marts are open,
thus the 8-mile long lines.

So Hurrykane are you saying that you are the reason if this storm does decided to come pay the Gulf Coast a visit. I hope not. Just go on your business trip and enjoy it. You deserve some enjoyment and fun after all you have been through.

Seriously. Two Walmarts in our immediate area were knocked out, and the Slidell Walmart was slow in opening. So EVERYBODY was going to the Picayune Walmart. It got so bad they had to develop a traffic plan for the parking lot. You'd be in line for 30-60 minutes to check out. Not fun, and the store was/is having trouble keeping some items in stock.

We went to the non-crowded, fully stocked wally world last night. It was faaaabulous, dahling. :)
