Well, I live on the Eastern eyewall of Katrina's landfall, so I know what
she did here.
I ventured over to New Orleans East to help some friends out today, my
first trip into Louisiana since Katrina.
The flooding in Slidell was very bad near and South of I-10, plus all near
Lake Ponchartrain. We're under a coastal flood watch right now - all
of MS plus SE LA - and the water is up. There's still water standing in
places.
I'd say the wind damage on the Western side of the eyewall was in the
strong 2/weak 3 wind damage, and cat 4/5 surge.
It's still unbelieveable to see how much damage Katrina did through
Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
