August 29, 2005 was a day that forever changed the Northern Gulf Coast of the United States, as well as the world... leaving many areas full of sorrow, pain, and an incomprehensible look at the doomsday scenario that is playing out for New Orleans.
Hurricane Katrina made landfall in Louisiana and Mississippi this past Monday, as an extremely powerful Category 4 Hurricane with winds over 140 mph. A storm surge...or rise of sea water above normal tide levels... of 20-30 feet has devestated the North Gulf Coast from New Orleans, Louisiana with effects all the way over to Pensacola, Florida.
We here at Radio NHCWX pray for those who have been affected by this hurricane, and we mourn those many already taken by the sea. August 29, 2005 was a date that forever changed hurricane history...with an epic storm named Katrina...that will never be forgotten.
God bless those affected by this massive disaster.
