I have heard something hit the bridge, no further details, sorry.

Has also been reported by the governor that rescue convey got to an impassible section of I-10 because of flooding and launched their boats from there to assist in search and rescue in the Ninth ward.

Sorry cannot give any more details. There really needs to be a red cross or FEMA rumor-controlled blog that specifically adresses damage and rescue efforts neighborhood by neighborhood.

On MSNBC, Rita Cosby was interviewing the Gov. of LA and she said that parts of I-10 near Slidell were "no longer there".

I only knew of an oil rig hitting a bridge in MOBILE, nothing in the NOLA area.

Barge hit what the locals call the "Hi Rise" and cracked it. Think it's on I-10 not sure what part.

The local media in NOLA are reporting that the high-rise (I-10 bridge over the Industrial Canal) was hit by a barge, and is damaged. The twin-spans (I-10 bridge over Lake Pontchartrain) is reportedly missing sections. Looks like we've lost two of the very few ways in (or out) of the city.
