Major Hurricane Landfall predictions for 2005

I originally thought that two major hurricanes would strike the United States this season, one in August into Texas as a Category 4 and one in September in Florida east coast, then into Louisiana.

We have had our August major hurricane, a Category 4 into LOUISIANA. Hurricane Dennis aside, I expect atleast one more major hurricane landfall for the United States coastline this September.

I actually fear the same will happen and if there is another Tropical Strom or even a weak Hurricane which enters the Gulf Of Mexico there will be another Major one hitting the coast and I have the feeling and I'm fearing that Texas is long overdue :( .. It's been 6 years since Brett ...

Just because an area has not been hit in a long time, does not mean they are "DUE"

Oh, I'm sure you know how I meant that, and it's not like I wish any form of a Tropical Storm (Allison was bad enough in 01) or a Hurricane on anyone. :(

I just have the feeling this might happen as they were sort of lucky over the last six years, in comparison to the other GOM coast states. :(

I am interested to see what Katrina's churning did to SSTs in the GOMEX. That should help put a damper on any storm traversing that area over the next couple of weeks until the sun does its work again.

hvaing lost a roof and about 20 trees and seeing alot of my community sustain significant damage to major cat 3 hurricane dennis i would hardly call it an "aside". certainly it was not of the level of katrina but when it is your catastrophe it is bad. of course me and my neighbors are a little sensitive about the general downplaying of dennis. thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by katrina

Well we did have Hurricane Claudette a few years ago. Albeit, not major, it was still a hurricane.

Yes, Claudette was in 03 with 70 mph, wasn't it rather large in size, too, for a Cat. 1? .. :?:

The reason I say Dennis aside...is because JULY was not expected to be this active...so my August major prediction...and my September major prediction is the same... just add on an unexpected July major hurricane.

Be glad we are downplaying Dennis because Dennis could have been like this one

Those SSTs are plenty warm enough for more major hurricanes. I think we will see 4 more give or take. Hopefully they wont make landfall.

Judging from the pattern in the Atlantic so far, if they are above 20 N and E of 70W when they develop, they wont.
