yah I belive it is DEFINATLY going ot be at least a med strength cat 4 but I think it would be cool if katrina got to cat 5 status but weakend to a boarderline cat 4 or med strength cat 3 before making second landfall

Of course, considering she dropped from 984 mb to 940 mb in 24 hours, she needs a break. Not very often are we "endowed" with a hurricane that deepens that impressively.
She still has 48 hours over water, and has yet to hit the loop current. She just received a shock from coming under the influence of a different steering pattern (WNW versus WSW) as induced by an entirely different mechanism (weakness/different high than before). Look for her to restrengthen significantly once she stabilizes that shock.
