Gulf of Mexico Tropical Summary - GUTS IN on August 23, 2005

<img src="http://www.diamondheadweather.com/guts20050823.jpg">

Out with the old, in with the new.

Tropical Depression Jose, a short lived cyclone, is dissipating inland over
Mexico. The only threat from Jose will be flooding.

The really old, left for dead, doing nothing at all for days TD10 remnants
are beginning to look better organized. Recon is scheduled to investigate
this area today for development. Several global models develop this into
a significant tropical cyclone in the GOM in 3-4 days.

The strong ridge continues to dominate the southeast US. Ample
moisture with daytime heating fires up a lot of convection in the afternoon
and evening over this area. If you don't get rain, you'll be in miserably hot and humid conditions.

I do not expect tropical cyclone formation in the GOM in the next 24-36 hours.
