Then it floods the Ohio Valley after slamming Florida.

Here is Frances the night it was named a depression...look at this versus the skeleton of a system so often referened as td10. That is funny....

Even I was sweating it out some- just coming off of Charley and its full force effects, I did not want another cat-3 or 4 anytime soon. Still- the winds were so prolonged that it just sucked to be in Florida near and through Labor Day last year. Everywhere north of the Alley had no gas (not everywhere, but darn close to it!) People were fighting- even my team was getting ripe with funk and discouragement due to the prolonged distress down there. And then came Ivan....umm, umm, umm. What a year that was.

Speaking of back in time...I'm reading over some of the discussions from last season. This qualifies under the heading of OH CRAP!
!

2 PM EDT FRI AUG 13 2004

RECENT AIRCRAFT RECONNAISSANCE REPORTS ALONG WITH RADAR AND
SATELLITE DATA SHOW THAT WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO 125 KT. THE TRACK
HAS ALSO SHIFTED A LITTLE TO THE RIGHT OF THE PREVIOUS ADVISORY
FORECAST WHICH SHIFTS THE GREATEST RISK TO THE AREA OF CHARLOTTE
HARBOR FLORIDA. THESE CHANGES REQUIRE THE ISSUANCE OF THIS SPECIAL
ADVISORY.

I wonder if that large area of thunderstorms over the coast of Africa behind Frances in this picture is what would later become Ivan.
