Is it me, or is Irene looking like the classic example of a storm about to swing back west?

It just...past storms (THAT WERE MUCH MORE POWERFUL) have had the look of swinging west as well:::

Don't know what swinging is involved, since it's been moving west since yesterday evening.

I do think the track is likely to stay left of the forecast track for a while.

I dunno what you are trying to imply but those 2 were nasty storms!! Especially that darn Floyd that scared everybody in South Florida into a near coma and then gave us the classic "weakness in the ridge that turned the storm northward towards NC". Ahhhh soooooo often I heard that phrase turning into a weakness in the ridge.....

No it's shear caused by a ULL to the SW...makes it look like it is moving NW but it is still heading W.

looks to me WNW. Looking quite nice out there. She is getting better in her old age lol

Most likely is a turn WNW, and then NW. Look at the infared loop, and it seems to already have a slight North of West tendency.
