9N, 42W?

#1 Postby frederic79 » Sun Aug 07, 2005 10:38 pm

Curious looking flare-up due south of Irene moving west. Is this the wave that followed Irene off the African coast and what are your thoughts on possible development? Remember discussions regarding Irene said that water temps would be warmer south of Irene's track and this blob is on a southerly track. Anyway, some deep convection there.

I was just going to comment on this. It looks like the 00Z GFS actually likes this feature and it appears to mildly develop it. At least according to the early portion of the run.....

Might be worth keeping an eye out

Definitely a possibility. Convection has been persisting for a while now.

Convection does seem to be persisting in that area, and in another area west of that longitude - something to keep an eye on.

A rather persistent area indeed...
We'd better watch this one carefully.
