This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

African Wave Train Cranking Up Again?

#1 Postby N2FSU » Tue Aug 02, 2005 7:22 pm

I know that these waves always look impressive and then tend to fizzle when they reach the Atlantic, but considering we're in August now, could this be the start of the "second round"?

yes it looks that way waves might be just south enough to not be effected to badly from the sal. Might get a system from this down the road.

Also notice how it's not just one wave embedded in dry air like last week, it is a big mess of moisture with embedded waves.

I don't see much potential there except for the wave already approaching the central Atlantic. Don't fret, the wave train will start soon enough.

Which sat images you all use for the Eastern Atlantic? I like the NASA page, but the images aren't big enough for that location.

TWC has imagery that updates every 3 hours from meteosat, instead of the usual 6

That puppy SW of the Cape Verdes is looking a lot better.

The last four runs of the GFS have been getting more and more enthusiastic about it as well. In all probability, though, if it does develop early there'll be enough weakness in the mid-Atlantic for it to recurve out at sea.
