Western Atlantic Tropical Summary - WATS UP on August 1, 2005

<img src="http://www.diamondheadweather.com/wats20050801.jpg">

Three upper level lows are the dominant features north of 20 degrees.
The GIANT one has the potential to develop into a subtropical system
over the next few days.

A small wave south of Cuba is providing some thunderstorms in its vicinity.
I do not expect development here in the next few days.

Invest 93L in moving Westward across the Caribbean Sea.
I still believe we'll see a tropical depression form in the next few days
from this system.

Another wave, a few hundred miles east of the Antilles is moving west
and I do not expect development from this system.

You missed the ULL in the north central GOM which may have to be watched if convection grows around it.

I cover only the Gulf of Mexico in the GUTS

Western Atlantic and Caribbean in the WATS

and Eatern Atlantic in the EATS

I consider these the three areas of interest for watching the atlantic basin.

Looks like 94L might become a subtropical system. Pretty far out, but something to track while we wait for everything to start picking up.
