METEOR SHOWER TONIGHT

#1 Postby DAVE440 » Wed Jul 27, 2005 4:29 pm

Not a big one but if you're in a dark area you might see some....
Oh yeah.... African dust not withstanding........

AOL NEWS
This week's Delta Aquarid meteor shower is not a really big one; it is more like a small prelude to the dramatic Perseids in August. But if you are in a very dark area with little light pollution, you may be able to see up to 20 meteors per hour during the evening of July 27 and the early morning hours of July 28. It is best to start watching after 11PM local time; you may see more meteors after midnight, as most showers provide the best show in the pre-dawn hours.

Well, the SAL just arrived here in SW FL. late this afternoon. It's very overcast and the air has a foggy appearance to it. (Sorry for that description-it's been a long day!) :D

Will this show be visible in NC? I'm in a nice small town called Black Mountain for the summer and the night sky is just unbelieveable compared to Tampa. I hope to see this here.

Cloudy here so I can tell you if I can see anything before it gets dark over there. :( (Probably too much light polution though given the usal part of the sky where meteors are visible)

In the US, the Delta Aquarids are best seen south of 40N.
