Emily looping again?

#1 Postby MGC » Tue Jul 19, 2005 11:31 pm

Headed west, no southwest, wait now south....Emily appears to be corkscrewing her way toward Mexico tonight. This is crazy.. Check out Brownsville radar, who know what direction Emily will be headed next......MGC

Others mentioned that it may be an inner eye rotating around a larger outer eye....Looks to be true.

Almost seems like she is gravitating around the dry slot.

Well considering how it looked as a cat 4 hiting cozumel, anything is "normal" with this stupid hurricane.

Is that trough what's slowing Emily, looks to be digging slowly southward. Look over west TX.

It looks like it tailgater. If this can stay off shore for about 12 more hours. In which 6 to 8 is almost a gaven by the current speed...Things could become slightly more interesting.

Matt have you seen any model support for this slow down?

Eugenio has poofed out there in the EPAC. It doesn't have the strength to pull Emily westward. Emily has probably reached the weak side of the ridge over the Gulf so it isn't pushing. The stationary weak shortwave over Texas is enough in this scenario to serve as a boundary. Add hurricane's dislike for landfall and you have a bouncing storm in a weak steering environment.

This one has me beat. I guess eventually the tropical flow from the east will win and kick it inland...
