Well, winds there are only supposed to reach tropical storm force... Hurricane at the highest peaks. I wouldn't worry TOO much, unless she's in an area that floods easily...

That's what I was figuring, but last night on the local news in Houston, they were saying that US government employees in Jamaica were being evacuated, so I thought maybe it was worse than I thought. On the other hand, the press always seems to exaggerrate.

OK, I found the actual government report, and of course, the news DID get it wrong. People were not being evacuated, but were given *authorization* to leave. rather big difference there.

The Department of State has authorized the departure of non-emergency personnel and eligible family members of the U.S. Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica. The storm is predicted to pass near Jamaica and the Cayman Islands on July 16."
