2nd Major of the Season

#1 Postby Downdraft » Thu Jul 14, 2005 6:36 pm

Who would believe we are talking about our second major of the season by the middle of July? 5 storms and two them cat 3 or better hurricanes. Unbelievable to say the least.

Have there been any studies trying to correlate increased cyclonic activity with volcanic activity? (Probably a stupid question but I am a nurse, not a geologist, etc.) Maybe we are really heating up and will see more and more things like this, but I sure hope not!!

Actually, increased volcanic activity would lower temperatures because of the increased particulate matter ejected into the atmosphere. I don't think you can draw a link between seismic events and tropical cyclones. By heating up I assume your wondering if global warming increases cyclone activity? The answer is no but you can't convince those that believe it despite the best tropical cyclone experts in the world saying no way.

Yes, you are right, I forgot about the ash...and that's embarrassing having just watched Supervolcano for the 3rd time last week! Thanks!
